    Underpinnings for the Storm

As believers in Christ, our foundation is solid. This is not one that we have built by ourselves, but one that Christ has laid. Peter, in the first chapter of 1 Peter, shows us several truths that we as the elect of God, can take comfort in. God has picked you and He knows you. God desires to grow you and he wants to bless you. Like houses secured to their foundation, our security is Christ. When secured to Christ, we will weather the storms of life.

Let's open our Bible's to 1 Peter 1 again as Brother Gifford brings us his message "Underpinnings for the Storm".

    Help In Hurtful Times

If I asked you who Peter was, what would you say? Would you mention walking on the water? Maybe you would speak about his denial of Jesus. Quite possibly, you even may talk about the Mount of Transfiguration. While there are several responses that fit and are true, most noteworthy, he is a disciple of Jesus Christ. He lived his life as a profound professor of the faith after the Resurrection.

    What Is "It"?

The word "it" can mean a lot of different things. You can use the word "it" to describe anything from a tangible object, to an idea. In 1 Peter, we see what the word "it" refers to. "It" is powerful and something that the most of the world struggles to grasp and understand. However, "it" is something believers in Jesus Christ have planted in their soul. The Holy Spirit shows us lovingly what this big idea is, and blesses us with its definition for us to show and share with others.

    The Subject Everyone Ignores

In Luke 16, we witness the parable of the rich man and Lazarus unfold. As Jesus shows us through this parable, there are is a central theme that we cannot afford to ignore - salvation. Even though his life was difficult, Lazarus, because of his faith, experienced comfort with God after he died. The rich man, who did not have the saving relationship with God that Lazarus did, experienced something else - the torment of Hell. While this may be a hard message for us to hear, it is one that is important. Furthermore, it is one we must spread, and that others cannot afford to ignore.

    Methuselah's Faith

Special Grandparent's Day Message - In Genesis Chapter 5, a man by the name of Methuselah is mentioned. While the bible doesn't tell us much about who he was, one can see his faith. Enoch his father, walked with God. His grandson, Noah, found grace in the eyes of the Lord, and was saved from the flood. Just from those two people, one may be able to see who this man was. No doubt, he had a Godly faith that influenced his children and grandchildren. As parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents, we should strive to have a lasting faith. A faith that is one that will influence generations to come.
