Methuselah's Faith

Special Grandparent's Day Message - In Genesis Chapter 5, a man by the name of Methuselah is mentioned. While the bible doesn't tell us much about who he was, one can see his faith. Enoch his father, walked with God. His grandson, Noah, found grace in the eyes of the Lord, and was saved from the flood. Just from those two people, one may be able to see who this man was. No doubt, he had a Godly faith that influenced his children and grandchildren. As parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents, we should strive to have a lasting faith. A faith that is one that will influence generations to come.

5 Things About a Good Father

There are all types of fathers in the world; some good and others that may not be so good. In Luke 15, Jesus addresses what a good father is. By speaking through the Parable of the Prodigal Son, we find some specific "good father" characteristics.  Most importantly, we find that the traits present in the Prodigal's father are traits of our Heavenly Father as well.

    Homecoming - 140 years proclaiming God's Word

Special Homecoming Message - As a believer in Christ, He should be our focus. We are also to run with endurance the race set before us (Hebrews 12:1). In Mark, we learn of a paralytic and his friends who ran the race. They lowered him down to Jesus and were willing to do whatever it takes for their friend's forgiveness. We should also be willing to do whatever it takes to lead others - strangers, family and friends - to Him as well.

    Two Rebels Under One Roof

The Prodigal son - we all know the parable, but have we ever thought it through? In Luke 15, we learn about not only the son that took his inheritance and left, but also the one who stayed behind. One was an outward sinner whom spent his inheritance on loose living, and one an inward, self-righteous Pharisee. Both went against their father's will for them; but left us a lesson about being a rebel.

How To Make The Angels Rejoice

In Luke 15, Jesus uses parables to show how He seeks the lost, and rejoices when He finds them. Furthermore, we learn that the Angels in Heaven rejoice over that one sinner who repents. But that isn't the only truth that we learn. We also find out through this example how we should act toward the lost and the world around us.

Straight Talk for Saints and Sinners

In the thirteenth chapter of Luke, Jesus expounds upon what the Kingdom of God is like. It is like a small  mustard seed that grows into a large tree, as well as something like leaven that spreads to the whole measure of dough.

Just like an athlete strives to win a race, Jesus reminds us all - saints and sinners alike - to strive to enter into the Kingdom. Jesus also makes it clear that there is only one way to enter that not everyone will enter into His Kingdom. How does one enter? Through the narrow gate - the blood of Christ.

    BE READY FOR THE FUTURE

    Be Ready for the Future

Where does Jesus find the church when he comes? What will we be doing? Will we be joyful? Welcoming? Ready for Him? In Luke, Jesus tells us to be like men who are waiting for their master, and whom open immediately when their master knocks. In order for us to have this type of readiness, one must keep ready for Him, and do work for the Kingdom.

    What A Difference Jesus Makes

In the 13th chapter of Luke, we witness the difference that Jesus makes as He speaks and brings truth. Using the parable of the fig tree with no fruit, as well as the woman that had, what the Scripture calls, a disabling spirit for 18 years, we learn that Jesus can make a difference, and straighten out what sin has bent. The results are nothing short of glorious.

    Let Freedom Ring

Special Independence Day message - In the US, we have freedoms like no other country has in history. Some of these have gave us liberty, while others cause bondage as well as blindness to the truth. What is that truth? That we are to fight the good fight - fight for truth. When we do so, the truth of Jesus will shine forth, and others can find the same liberty that believers in Christ enjoy every day.

    Like A Child

In Mark chapter 9, Jesus uses children as an example to teach a lesson. This lesson, can be easily applied to those of us in today's world. We must be watchful of what we do, where we go, and what we see. When we watch our actions, we ensure that the children around us do not follow in our bad decisions. How to we do that? Jesus explains to us that we are to have salt in ourselves, and have peace with one another.
